Pharmacies are referred to as “Apothekes” in Austria. They sell both over-the-counter and prescription medications. Most apothekes are closed by 5pm during the week, 12pm on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. Some may also take a lunch break in the middle of the workday.
There are “night apothekes.” When you visit your local apotheke there will be a list posted on the window on where to find the nearest night apotheke.
The city is filled with apothekes so finding one a short walk from home should be easy.
